Ruwan and Diana Photography is a boutique family portrait studio specializing in Adventure Family Portraits in Southern California.

We create experience first family photography for families who want meaningful moments, calm guidance, and heirloom artwork designed for the home.

Our work is centered on connection, place, and creating memories that last beyond the session.

Ruwan's Story
Diana's Story
Two children, a boy and a girl, playing and throwing leaves in a park during autumn, with trees and fallen leaves on the ground.

We specialize in Adventure Family Portraits, which are experience based family photography sessions focused on real interaction rather than posed images.

Adventure does not mean extreme.
It means spending time together, exploring at your own pace, and creating memories as a family.

These sessions are a good fit for families who want:

  • Natural moments instead of forced posing

  • Help with planning, locations, and wardrobe

  • A calm, guided experience

  • Albums and wall art that still matter years from now

What we specialize in

A young child with curly hair lying on sandy beach, face up, eyes closed, wearing a plaid shirt and denim shorts, surrounded by rocks and footprints in the sand.

Most families come to us feeling unsure.

They worry their kids will not behave.
They worry they will feel awkward in front of the camera.
They worry the experience will feel stressful or rushed.

Our role is to remove that pressure.

We guide gently, offer direction when it helps, and step back when connection is already happening. Kids are not asked to perform. Parents are not asked to pose. Families are free to be themselves.

That sense of ease is what allows real moments to unfold.

Why families trust us

Ruwan’s background in education shaped the way he works with families. Years of teaching built a calm, clear, and supportive approach to guiding people through unfamiliar experiences, especially with kids.

Diana’s background in design influences how images are curated, presented, and turned into finished artwork. Her eye for balance and detail helps ensure the final pieces feel intentional and complete.

Together, we bring structure without pressure and guidance without control. Families often tell us they feel supported without ever feeling managed.

Our background and approach

Young boy lying on the floor smiling and holding a yellow flower, with purple and orange plush toys nearby, in a room with a wooden table and a potted plant in the background.

We believe the experience matters as much as the photographs.

We believe images have more meaning when they live in your home, not just on your phone.

And we believe family photography should feel human, unforced, and true to who you are in this season of life.

Our philosophy

A simple next step
