We create Authentic Family Portraits inspired by the Experiences you love most.
You care more about what it feels like to be together than how everyone looks standing still for a photo. That’s where we start. We focus on documenting real experiences so the images are connected to memories that actually happened, not moments created just to look good on camera.
We’re Ruwan & Diana. We guide when guidance is helpful and step back when connection is happening. There’s no stiff posing or pressure to perform. Just space for your family to move, explore, and be present together in a way that feels natural to you. The images that come from this matter more because they hold more than the idea of “we were there.” They carry the memory of being there together.
For Families Who Want a Lived Experience, Not Just a Photo Session.
This experience is for families who…
Want family photos that feel natural, emotional, and real
Worry their kids won’t sit still or “behave” during photos
Feel overwhelmed choosing locations, outfits, or how to prepare
Care more about the experience than just getting digital files
Want albums and wall art that still matter years from now
Family photography doesn’t have to feel stressful or performative.
Many families come to us feeling nervous about traditional photo sessions, worried about stiff posing, kids being forced to cooperate, or photos that don’t feel like them.
Our Adventure Family Portraits are designed differently.
Instead of asking your family to perform for the camera, we guide you through a meaningful experience in a location that fits your family.
Connection comes first. The photographs follow naturally.
What the Experience Feels Like
Step 1: We Plan with Intention
Step 2: You Explore while We Guide
We start by understanding what matters to your family and the kinds of places where you feel most like yourselves. Together, we choose a location that gives you space to move, explore, and simply be together.
There are no stiff poses or expectations to perform. We offer gentle direction and then let you experience the place naturally, so you can focus on your family instead of the camera.
Step 4: The Experience becomes Artwork
Step 3: Where Real Moments Happen
The images we create are meant to bring you back to how it felt to be there. Not just who was present, but how you connected and what the experience meant. These memories are preserved as artwork designed to be lived with and revisited over time.
The walking, the laughter, the quiet pauses. These are the moments that matter. As your family settles into the experience, we step back and capture the connection that already exists between you.
Testimonials
Diana and Ruwan make photoshoots so easy and smooth. It doesn’t feel rushed or chaotic, which can easily happen when taking family photos. They have such an attention to detail and capture it all while making it feel effortless and natural. The images they captured are my favorite family photos we have!
— Veronica W.
…We never felt confused about anything or felt like things were being taken away from us. Of course, our photos came out fantastic and it came back within a day! They showed us a slide show with all of the good photos they picked through and we obviously both cried. We had an exact vision of how we wanted our photos to look and they nailed it exactly…
— Ian S.
Ruwan and Diana are incredible. The entire experience was unlike anything I ever thought possible. I had previously shared how we weren’t very happy with how our wedding pictures with another photographer had turned out last year which is why we were eager to take new pictures together. They made us feel immediately comfortable while they photographed us, which allowed us to be ourselves and capture some beautiful moments...
— Alexis J.
I’ve never been a big fan of getting my photo taken but this was the first place that has made me feel so confident and comfortable behind the camera. They are so friendly yet professional. Highly recommend!!

As many as it takes! We keep snapping until we are both confident that there are plenty of quality photographs to choose from.

After your photoshoot, we'll schedule a time for you to come to the studio and preview your images. During this session, you'll select your favorite images and decide how you'd like to display them in your home. The images you choose will then be sent to our retoucher for final processing and then on to production to create your heirloom products. We'll contact you approximately 7-10 business days after this to arrange pickup or delivery of your order.

Yes, while we focus on creating images that show you in the best possible way at the photoshoot, sometimes a stray hair or a spot of lint may not be worth breaking the flow of the shoot to address at the moment. For this reason we have a wonderful retoucher, Ali, with over 15 years in the industry who meticulously goes through each of the images you select and makes sure you look your best. We also work with Ali, our retoucher, because of her skill in making the images look natural and not look retouched.

No, we do not provide the RAW files as these are not finished to our standards. You would not go to a world class restaurant and ask the chef to just put all the ingredients in a bag to be cooked at home because cooking the ingredients is part of the process. We aim to provide you with a finished product.
-
When you come to the studio for the gallery reveal you will get to decide which images you want to keep and how they will be produced. We have a variety of popular products from albums to wallart so that your memories are preserved and displayed the way you would like to enjoy them every day.

We guide you, but not with stiff or traditional posing.
Adventure Family Portrait sessions are designed around genuine experiences, not manufactured moments. Rather than placing your family into fixed poses, we gently guide you through an environment and invite you to explore it together. As curiosity takes over, everyone naturally relaxes, and real moments unfold. Our role is to document those moments as they happen, capturing authentic memories, not staged images.
-
Think less about dressing up, and more about feeling like yourselves.
Adventure Family Portrait sessions are active and experience-driven, so comfort matters more than perfection. We encourage clothing that allows you to move easily, explore together, and feel at home in the environment you’ll be in. When you’re comfortable, it’s easier to relax, be present, and enjoy the experience as it unfolds.
Rather than matching outfits or dressing for the camera, we guide families toward clothing that feels natural in the setting. Well-loved shoes, layers, and textures that fit the environment almost always work better than anything overly formal or brand new.
You don’t need to have everything figured out ahead of time. Choosing what to wear is part of the experience design, and we’ll guide you through it together so nothing feels stressful or forced.
-
This is a very common concern, and it usually comes from experiences with traditional portrait sessions.
Those sessions often ask families to rush, pose, and perform within a short window of time. When kids are tired, teens are disengaged, or adults feel pressured to “get it done,” it can be hard for the images to feel meaningful.
Our process is intentionally different. We design the experience with you ahead of time, choose environments that support connection, and allow enough space for everyone to settle in and be themselves. Because the session is centered around a shared experience, not posed moments, what we capture reflects how your family actually feels together.
By the time images are created, they’re rooted in real interactions, not forced expressions. That’s why families often tell us the photographs feel familiar, honest, and surprisingly emotional, because they recognize themselves in them.

Adventure Family Portraits are experience based family photography sessions focused on connection, movement, and being present together.
Adventure does not mean extreme.
Any time you are spending time with the people you love and creating memories, that is an adventure. Sometimes it is playful. Sometimes it is quiet. Sometimes you get sidetracked. We like to call that a side quest.
Instead of posing families, we create space for real experiences to unfold naturally. The photographs come from what actually happens, not from performance.

Most families worry about the same things.
Will the kids behave.
Will this feel awkward.
Will we know what to do.We remove that pressure.
We do not require kids to perform or adults to pose. We guide gently and step back when connection is already happening.
During planning, we help with locations, wardrobe, and preparation. We also make sure we understand what truly matters to them.
Families often tell us this is the first time a photographer has asked these questions.
-
Most of us remember our grandparents’ homes filled with albums and family photos.
Today, most images live on phones and disappear quickly.
We believe photographs matter more when they live in your home. When your kids grow up seeing themselves on the walls. When memories are part of everyday life.
During our reveals, families often become emotional because they recognize the meaning of these moments.
The session becomes a memory.
The artwork becomes a legacy. -
Families choose us because the experience feels calm, easy, and natural.
They do not feel rushed or pressured.
They do not feel confused about the process.
They do not feel like they need to be perfect. When families realize we are not trying to force a moment, they relax. Kids act like themselves. Parents soften. Real connection shows up.
That is when the images start to feel like them.
